FGP PROGRAMS
FGP hosts a range of events over the year. Below is a summary of the various pending and past programming opportunities FGP has developed. In addition to the events below, FGP also provides informal mentorship, social opportunities, and resources to students, and has engaged in broader discussions with administration to serve the FGP community at Penn Law.   • INTERNAL DEVELOPMENT
First Generation Professionals General Interest Meetings
FGP hosts general interests meeting where students can listen to a guest speaker. The group also discusses future goals and what being FGP in Penn Law has meant.
  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMING
Telling Your Story: FGP Professional Narrative Workshop
FGP collaborated with FGP alum from the public and private sectors to learn about navigating the legal industry as FGP employees. Students also were given advice on how to frame their personal and professional experiences in the workplace to amplify their unique skills and traits.

What Is Big Law? Panel with Latham FGP Attorneys
FGP hosted a Q&A with Latham attorneys to learn about what the Big Law experience entails. Students also learned about the general application process and how to strengthen their applications.

Mock Interview with Stroock & Stroock & Lavan
Prior to on campus interviews, FGP students could attend mock interviews with Stroock attorneys in New York.

Clerkship 101
FGP learned about the clerkship application process and how to strategically target applications from faculty on the Penn Clerkship Committee.

Academic Success Panel
FGP provides students with informal advice and information to succeed throughout the first year of law school. FGP also collaborated with all of Penn Law's affinity groups to host comprehensive panels advising first year students on how to prepare for exams and develop healthy and productive study techniques tailored to the courses offered at Penn.
  • MENTORING
Q&A Panel with Penn Law FGP for Penn First
FGP hosted Q&As with undergraduate first-generation college students at Penn who are interested in a career a legal career and the law school experience.

A Discussion with Dean of Students, Monica Monroe
Penn Law's Dean of Students hosted discussions for Penn undergrad's pre-law, first-generation college students. A law student panel also weighed in on the benefits of law school for first-generation college students and their experiences at Penn Law thus far. 

Penn 1vyG Conference
FGP students collaborated with the undergraduate first-generation organization to host the 1vyG Conference consisting of students and alumni from nearly 20 institutions to discuss ways to serve the first-generation community.

FGP Youth Education Project Collaboration
FGP students spoke to local high students during the Youth Education Project's annual moot court competition hosted at Penn Law. The purpose of the project is to teach local students about the law and allow them to develop a legal argument to present. Many of the students that participate in the program have backgrounds that are similar to those of our members.

Parents & Partners Day Breakout Session
FGP hosted a breakout sessions for the Parents and Parents of FGP members to give them insight into the unique experience of FGP students and an opportunity to meet other FGP parents and partners.

FGP Brunch for Admitted Students
FGP has welcomed new students at ASW brunch to discuss prospective student concerns.
